Introducing Rule 8, the "Three Strikes" rule: If moderators tag three of your posts as misleading, you will be banned.

Hey all,/r/pics gets hundereds and hundrereds of posts a day. Many of these posts will get upvoted, and the select few will be put on our front page, and on the front page of reddit itself./r/pics is one of the faces a new user to reddit sees, and we are a community based on sharing pictures. Anything from professional grade takes, to that picture you took of your friend last night with your old iPhone 4 you have been really meaning to trade in.Because of all this, title accuracy is important. For this reason we created the "misleading title" tag a long time ago, to indicate to the reader that the title was misleading or wrong, and that they should look to the comments for more info.In /r/pics, we also have many users who heavily post content from many other sources, such as imgur, instagram, tumblr, etc... We do welcome this (with some small restrictions) - But we also recognize that these users are the most likely to take an image and use its title without even bothering to check if its actually correct or not.We ALSO recognize that this just happens sometimes, as an honest mistake. When we take all this knowledge and put it together, we came up with a simple solution. If a user has three posts in /r/pics tagged as misleading, they will be banned. The ban will be temporary, and the user will be given One More Chance (c) - Futher infrations will result in a longer or even perma ban.FAQWhat makes a post misleadingA post is misleading only when the title is very off mark or completely inaccurate. Mis-spellings, small missed details, sourcing problems, etc... are NOT misleading. Misleading titles are complete lies or falsehoods. (Example is at bottom of post)How does a post get tagged misleading?Posts can only be tagged misleading by moderators, and a tag is up to moderator discretion. What if I see a post that is misleading, but isn't tagged?Press report, click "Other" and type "misleading" - If someone has left a comment that explains this more, please include a link to it as well. Will a post be tagged at misleading even if there is not a comment that explains what is misleading?Likely not, but context dependsAre the amount of strikes a user has public?NoCan I give OP shit about having a misleading post?Up to you, but don't be a jerkAre posts I made in the past that got tagged misleading counted? No, everyone starts freshWill I be notified if my post is tagged misleading?YesWhat are some examples of posts that are misleading? An example of a post that is misleading:Hero boy saved his cat from a fire! The boy actually didn't do anything, the firefighter saved the catExample of a post that is NOT misleading:Hero boy saves his cat from a tornado!Actually, it was a typhoon!Hero boy saves grandmother from fire!It was actually his great grandmother!Questions, comments?Leave a comment belowThis is the first new numbered rule we have added in a long long time.Lastly, check out http://mods.pics! A site where we show off dumb modmail from spammers!
