Hi everyone. I'm making this post without my comods approval, but I get one of those every 3 months or so.There have been concerns over how /r/pics handles politics and I wanted to briefly go over those.1. We appreciate your feedbackFirst of all we do appreciate all the respectful feedback we get. Thank you for that.2. /r/pics does allow Political pictures and has no plans to ban a subject completely. In general we seriously avoid banning "topics" - While you may not agree with this policy, this is the policy we have chosen to take on. We do our best to flair pictures of popular topics so that you can easily filter them out using your application of choice. We do this because /r/pics at its core is a very open place with a very open concept. We are often the place where users go to make their first posts. We are often a place where many lurkers browse to soon post to facebook and ask if you've seen how great this is 3 days after the reddit post.Ultimately, we are trend based. There are going to be ups and downs of all sorts of things. This subreddit was crazy during the DC science march. It's going to be really crazy when the US Eclipse happens. Nazi bashing is pretty hot right now.We are a place of trends, politics, and all sorts of weird things. We do not plan on changing this or banning specific topics that people want to post about3. Addressing poor post titlesThat all being said! I recognize there has been an influx of posts that sit on the edge of violating our title rules. I also recognize that we have been inconsistent in our handling of these posts. When we made the titles rules, we did not take every possible scenario in mind. Unfortunately these rules may not be sufficient to create the desired environment of the subreddit, where the picture comes first.4. We are working to resolve thisWe are working and discussing better ways to handle these edge cases, or better ways to apply our title rules in NON-SUBJECTIVE ways that better define the content of the subreddit and what is an is not appropriate to post.Anyone should be able to post to /r/pics without ambiguity on whether their post is okay or not. While we won't be able to get it perfect, we are working on this and I appreciate your patience. Thanks,ATF
