Transparency Report January

We have tweaked our rule 1 a bit. It now reads:No screenshots or pictures where the primary/sole focus is on a screen. That way it's clear that pictures where a screen just happens to be in the frame or where it's sharing the focus with other things don't get removed. We are working behind the scenes on whether/how to curb the titles that have been called Facebook posts/sympathy posts/unrelated posts. As a former default sub, our main goal is to keep /r/pics a catch-all sub as it always was and will be. The rules should be clear and easy to follow for our subscribers but also consistent to enforce by the mods. We expect to soon have news on that front.  Now to the main part of these reports, the numbers(all numbers exclude the automod actions):JanuaryDataDifference to last monthCommentsTotal Moderation Actions32,299+7,309a couple of controversial posts required more mod actionsSubmission Removals (includes spam)5,961+797about the sameComment Removals (includes spam)9,136+3,212controversial political posts necessitated more removalsPosts Approved4,186+664about the sameComments Approved3,973+2,597controversial political posts caused more reported commentsBans (perma&temp)2,237+473also because of the political postsUnbans233+49about the sameReports Ignored1200-77please keep reporting anywaysPosts Locked9+5Doxing posts, harassment posts, troll posts and very uncivil posts got lockedUsers muted131+39Slightly more also as a result of the controversial posts
